Perigus Energy calls for stable policy to sustain renewable investment through political volatility

Hamburg, 24 September 2026

Perigus Energy has called on political leaders, civil servants, energy regulators and transmission system operators across Europe to prioritise stable, delivery-focused policy that sustains long-term investment in renewable energy infrastructure.

Speaking at WindEnergy Hamburg, Perigus Energy CEO Kieran White said Europe’s energy challenge is now as much about policy resilience as it is about technology. With energy markets still exposed to fossil fuel volatility and electricity demand continuing to grow, he said Europe must focus on the renewable technologies that can deliver new megawatts quickly, affordably and at scale.

Perigus Energy is active across Ireland, Germany, Spain and the UK with an operational portfolio of 668 MW spanning onshore wind, solar and battery storage. The company also has 160 MW in late-stage construction, a further 200 MW expected to reach final investment decision before the end of 2026, and multiple projects preparing to participate in government auctions across its markets.

The company was acquired by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners earlier this year, under the CI V fund, and has since undertaken a detailed reassessment of its markets, projects and investment plans.

In his remarks, White warned that increasing political volatility, policy uncertainty, disinformation, and delays in permitting, grid access and route-to-market frameworks are creating avoidable risk for investors. He said that permanent institutions across the energy system must play a stabilising role by enabling policies that support real-world delivery, rather than abstract ambition alone.

“Only through delivery of energy can there be stability for consumers. Only through stability of policy can there be delivery of energy. We need policy that is grounded in evidence, focused on proven delivery and designed to give investors the confidence to keep deploying capital into the technologies that can add megawatts to the grid today” Kieran White told industry leaders attending the global event.

White said onshore renewables remain central to Europe’s energy security and competitiveness because they can be delivered faster and at lower cost than other forms of new electricity generation and their decentralised nature are safer from disruption.

Highlighting the politicisation of energy, he added: “In each of our four markets there have been distinct political paradigm shifts. None can be put back in the bottle, and none should be ignored. It is a real threat to the deployment of capital and a cold hard risk that must be factored by any credible investor. If Europe becomes uninvestable then Europe is in trouble. Not just economically, but politically”.

He also pointed to the scale of deployment already underway across Europe, noting that Europe installed 8.8 GW of new wind capacity in the first half of 2026, with onshore wind accounting for 74% of that total. Solar deployment has also continued at significant scale, with almost 34 GW of new solar PV capacity installed across the EU in the same period.

“We can’t control politics, but we can improve policy and delivery”, Mr White concluded. “The call to action for our industry is to be clear, precise and on the record about the policy and regulation that makes it slower and more expensive to deliver new energy infrastructure. Ideas are easy, but execution is everything”.
